I know that uniques break randomly but I was wondering how the duration is determined? Rahmid the High Priest of Solaris dropped the Staff of Vindication +3 twice and both times it broke within 20 minutes. Just wondering if it is supposed to be like this or if something is buggy.

I'm pretty sure that's buggy.. there's times when i had it for days.. and times that just broke right away.

How long each item sticks around is different for each item, but I think all of them are set to atleast a week. The countdown works fine on Windows, so it's something Linux-specific that counts down faster, or something. I know about it but I haven't been able to figure it out.

If I'm around when you get a unique item, it might help with debugging. I can get data on unique items - for example:
: *unique list 3
Unique Item Group:
   InGame: 1
   GlobalLimit: 1  PlayerLimit: 0
   Decay: 720        Max: 0

   Owners:
      Time: Mon Mar  2 02:22:47 2009   Owner: Duff   Object: 1700 - misc
For this item, I can tell you Duff has it right now, when he got it, and how long until it decays (720 game days, or 24 real days). It should be destroyed on March 26th if Duff doesn't break it before then.

Haven't been able to figure it out yet, but I'll let everyone know when I do.
