<shy grin> Source code?

(edit: whoops, meant to ask this in the Questions forum!)

I recognize this can be a touchy subject for some, but I'll ask it anyway: is the source code for download like the original Mordor code is? My motivation for asking is simple. I have a strange fascination with reading game code, but more than that: I'm obsessed with knowing exact mechanics. Game database information? Pffft. Gimme numbers, progressions, and probabilities. I'm not out to lift the code and reuse it in any way.

Also, if you are interested in accepting minor feature improvements (e.g. customizable prompts like {50/129 Hp 12/39 Mp 8675309 TNL}:) then I'd love to be able to submit contributions. Nothing that directly affects gameplay-- just fun little "wouldn't it be nice if..." things.

Am out out in left field, or do I have a chance <g>?

Bane's actually in discussion with the original coders of Mordor to open source the Realms code. I'm busily working at cleaning up the code (if you're familiar with Mordor code, you know what I'm talking about) and I imagine we'll be able to release it sometime soon.

Really? I've been somewhat surprised that they haven't released it under any of the common open source licenses already. And as far as the code cleans up... yah, I know what you mean. I think they decided to use 'cut and paste' as their primary coding technique. The sneak code is a >perfect< example of that :/

8675309 is a very special number. If you Google it you loose though!

Maybe a custom stats command can be added for Delta to track "time to level" based on your rate of accumulating EXP for your current session. That way you can have a constant reminder of just how L O N G it takes to grind out 885 million EXP Smile.

Once it's cleaned up some more and we're happy with it, I do plan on releasing it under a creative commons license. If people wish to submit some patches, I'm sure something could be worked out similar to how builders are compensated.

It's in a song... and the person with that phone number got really annoyed when everyone started calling them.

*yawn*, if you're around any more basil, the code's on the website :P

If you feel like sending in some patches, check here if we'd accept it first, and then go ahead and send in some patches for features you'd like to see implemented.
