| Stat modifying spellsFriday, September 28th, 2007 at 12:06 am
So I'm taking a break from all this work on the overland to do a couple small projects.
One is the strength/weakness haste/slow combo. These have been combined to work from a single function (don't know why they weren't before). This means the remaining stats can be added very easily. Now all we need are names:
CON: fortitude / ?????
INT: wit / feeblemind
PTY: holy / unholy
Some suggestions? I don't like holy/unholy because of the connection with good/evil.
The code looked a little awkward, so I'm unifying everything:
Weakness / anti-con will make a berserker / cleric of Ares lose rage.
Weakness will make a deathknight lose pray.
Slow will make a werewolf lose frenzy.
Unholy will make a cleric lose pray.
Wit will make a player lose confusion. Heaven doesn't want me and Hell is afraid I'll take over.

CON: Fortitude/Frailty
PTY: Veneration/Irreverence
I don't know if this is along these same lines, but I was thinking recently that it would be nice to have some unique stat-modifying armor, or to have more armor that casts spells on the user. I know it would be nice for non-spellcasting classes to have protection rings and bless rings, and the occasional fly helm, some unique resist-realm rings, etc. Nothing unreasonable, but when a character is high enough to get such awesome armor, they are usually all "casted-up" anyway. It would be sweet for a high lvl berserker to have some blessed and protected armor, a shield that exudes light, and a helm of levitation.
two cents

Here's the list I came up with in the mean time:
STR: strength / enfeeblement
DEX: haste / slow
CON: fortitude / weakness
INT: wit / feeblemind
PTY: prayer / damnation
I like veneration / irreverence too - I was also considering "hallow" and "unhallow", or "consecrate" and "desecrate". Lots of choices.
Items that carry stat/spell changes are also something I want to code (I think me and Bane might race to see who can code it first :P), such as an invisibility ring that makes you invisible as long as you wear it. I'll have to do some planning to map out what we all want done so I can code quickly/efficiently. Heaven doesn't want me and Hell is afraid I'll take over.

the armor spell would be nice, considering there's almost never anyone on to cast me up =(
