Class Overhaul Friday, April 5th, 2013 at 11:37 pm
Long ago I was thinking this...but years later (now) I'm sharing it...
Can we simplify things a bit and muck the multi-class business? Don't get me wrong, I get why we added it...kind of...
- it's very D&D-esque
- it's pretty awesome
- it adds some challenge in the "slower" leveling requirement area
But seriously I think it's a complete departure from the original direction of the game. By that I mean, we have rangers, dks, palys, vamps, rogues (also a later addition-- in 2000 I think)...all pretty hybrid-ish classes.
What I propose is this (also very PnP rpg-esque):
- class/(race?) dependent exp: ie, exp-TNL - thief < fighter < mage < druid
- get rid of multi-class
- create new classes for the popular multi-classes (cler/ass, mage/ass, and maybe fighter/mage or fighter/thief or just fighter/mage/thief (which is one of my fav D&D multis) and adjust their exp scales accordingly
Anyway, just a few thoughts. Not sure what all is going on the coding front. Just think this would be a move in the right direction.

Bane is too busy with real life to code much, as is Dominus. Ocelot is a lazy mofo and doesn't do anything.
If anyone else wants to volunteer to code I'd happily overhaul multi-class, but too much on the list right now and not enough people who know c/c++ and have time for it :P
If you're volunteering...We could use the help! Or if you know someone who wants to, send them our way.
I think the idea being tossed around for multi class was have independent levels for each class and you pick which one to level.
