Simple solution sui and start a new character, or just start a new character might be better but who am i to say not to sui. but got to agree with bodhi lvling quickly only works in a group soo recruit people! And to the people crying about perms with loot you'd be better off killing for gold maybe boring but you get more in the end.

My final thoughts on the two above mentioned topics.

I'm frankly tired of whoever finds it necessary to whine about perms. Honestly, the amount of gold you make doing perms is severely less than the amount of money you could make at a place such as skulls. So instead of just finding a reason to whine and bitch, go do something productive. Sure, perms are convenient, but the time it takes to wipe the perms and make reasonable loot (taking into account ticking and killing time -- about 30 minutes AT LEAST), you can easily make 350k from a period of 8am to 8pm. If you can solo these perms, then you surely can kill these skulls pretty easily. Sure, the game could use a couple more gold spots or a tweak or two at spots such as making dwarves (sigil not ironguard :P) worthwhile to kill again or laughing cherubs (get rid of faction damage and those god forsaken ethereal spirits or whatever -- no idea why they're there in the first place).

Also, there is absolutely NO reason for a purge right now. I don't know how many times I've seen the mud's status referred to as beta. But since many of you refuse to acknowledge that term, I'll post a link to help clarify what exactly beta means. Beta Testing. As far as I'm concerned, there are many more bugs to be found, maybe not now, but in the very near future. Bane has yet to put live the new version of bards, which is most definately going to present many bugs. ESPECIALLY since Bane isn't like some sorta outsourced indian genious guy that works for Microsoft. There are also more changes to come once bards are live. So instead of pulling for a purge, please acknowledge the big picture of the mud. Bane has done a half-assed job of recruiting some people, which is ok because the mud isn't trying to build a player base right now to begin with. I can guarantee once this mud is fully complete and out of beta, this mud will offer 100000000x anything any mud has ever been able to offer once the real recruiting begins. That will solve the issue of the player base.

I know some of you have experience with building/coding, so step up and help expedite the growth and progression of the mud. Dominus is working on making building easier, and Bane is actively recruiting coders.

So instead of whining and bitching about what's wrong with the mud, how about you try and throw out suggestions on what we can do to help improve the quality of the mud. In fact, I believe that's the reason we're playing to begin with...

No laments from me. Because if you notice, there are actually more people online now than there were shortly after the last purge. I am encouraged, and I think it is because there has been significantly more/newer places added. Also, Dom, Bane, and Oce have been working on improving the game mechanics - always trying to make it better, not just fairer - like used to be the attempt.

And, leveling quickly only works if you are grouped with a high level character. This is of course inflated right now because of the sheer numbers of high-level people.

I've only soloed with Jarlaxle so far, and am not finding it as quick to level as I used to level with Bodhi even during the first week of the game. While death has less impact, I am not able to kill as high of mobs as I used to.

*****
As an aside, I think there's a highly skewed perspective right now, because people have been high level for so long. Taking a character from level 1 and soloing it up to 20's or 40 might refresh the perspective.

Remember when you used to be able to stun/hit a mob that was 5 levels higher than you for normal damage?

I basically leveled kiera up solo, (while others were botting their backstabbers up), and it changed nothing. It was far too easy. Last spring I leveled a ranger to 20 in less than 24 game hours, grouped with a cleric my level the whole time. Far too easy.

Anyways people that played past purge that I can name off the top of my head...

Tangarth
Cancer
Elia
Trist
Thelle
Gank
Uhohdebo
Kyron
Rao
Pao
Howwy
Carerra
Duo
Arikin
Lassie
Pacis
Deviant
Sulik (and his 3-4 friends)
Beren
Nightmares
Me

Thats just the list I can think of off the top of my head that played a lot right after the purge and got to at least level 15. I know there are a lot of people I am forgetting. Agents of Deceit had 3-4 guys I can't remember.

Are you in contact with these people? What makes you so sure they would come back if there were to be a purge? I wish they would, but I am not so sure they would.

Besides. There will never be a purge, even if the entire playerbase were to vote unanimously on it, because Bane won't do it, and right now Dom doesnt want it either. So there's no use even talking about it. Might as well speak to a brick wall.

And obviously not EVERYONE wants one anyway. Zale makes good points, so long as people actually DO treat this as a beta mud.

I'd like to try purge, but if we don't, i actually don't really care in the big scheme of things. I'm still getting my legs under me again about this place, anyway.

Treating it like a BETA is fine, but exploiting is out of control. Everyone does it in some form or fashion, including myself. People either bot xp, take advantage of gold glitches, bot skills, or have skills on their chars that no one else has or is allowed to have.

I agree. That's why I'm saying Zale has good a good point about beta, SO LONG as people actually TREAT this as a beta. Something needs to be done to get people to think more like that. I don't know if it'd work even, but that's why i was asking about purges being done consistently...i dunno...like every 6 months or something. Originally I thought 3, but that'd be too quick considering the dev speed of this place right now and current staff.

BUT..like I said..won't happen. Need to do things without it.

Feel free to offer some solutions to fix the problems. I fix them as made aware of them and as time allows.

If you have brilliant bot prevention code, by all means share it with us and we'll put it in!

Give us a list of bugs and we'll fix them as we can. Plu has been helping us but she's not always on either.
