Two options, both of which are better then Ocelot's ideas.

a) hardcore level restricts on perms. Don't restrict the room, just make it so you dont get xp or drops if you're 3+ levels higher then a perm. This can obviously be done, with no new coding, because Rollo was like this for many years.

b) p wipe. more ppl will play. guarantee it. i am all but quitting until a purge comes along.

I actually want a pwipe. It's just not allowed to be talked about! By me anyway. LOL!

And by the way...a) will not work. Jackasses will just kill the perm anyway. Would have to make them restricted AND not hittable. And i'm sure somebody else'd just bitch about that too....

Perms are fine. There's at least a thousand in the game. Just because the one's that are easy to get to are dead doesn't mean they all are.

Also, I'd be okay with a pwipe, in fact, the mud has been stagnating for the past year and could use a jump start.

Another coder and 2-3 more builders would help far more with 'stagnation' than some silly p-wipe. We'd lose all feedback on levels 15+ and then any major changes wouldn't get the proper testing and people would bitch and moan...sorry been there, done that, not doing it again.

That's fine. I'm sure eventually there will be a wipe. I'll be around now and again, but for now, others have control of my characters, and I have abdicated my guild leadership to Carpathia.

Leveling / botting got so out of hand for awhile, that lots of people have chars they did little work to level. Long gone are the days when death mattered, and it was actually a challenge to play this game. Just my personal opinion, nothing against Bane or Dom. If I wanted to play a game that took no skill, I'd go play WoW or EQ. I'm not saying I am a great mudder, hell I died 50+ times after I leveled to 22, never used a ress once, and I was one of the last legitimate level 30, but I enjoyed the game much more when it was challenging.

When people can level a char from 1-30 by not even hitting a mob, just attacking it and letting others kill it, its retarded. Granted it has changed some, which is good, but now everyone has a 30+ char. Seems like a lot less people around now then there was around the last purge.

No laments from me. Because if you notice, there are actually more people online now than there were shortly after the last purge. I am encouraged, and I think it is because there has been significantly more/newer places added. Also, Dom, Bane, and Oce have been working on improving the game mechanics - always trying to make it better, not just fairer - like used to be the attempt.

And, leveling quickly only works if you are grouped with a high level character. This is of course inflated right now because of the sheer numbers of high-level people.

I've only soloed with Jarlaxle so far, and am not finding it as quick to level as I used to level with Bodhi even during the first week of the game. While death has less impact, I am not able to kill as high of mobs as I used to.

As an aside, I think there's a highly skewed perspective right now, because people have been high level for so long. Taking a character from level 1 and soloing it up to 20's or 40 might refresh the perspective.

Remember when you used to be able to stun/hit a mob that was 5 levels higher than you for normal damage?
