I don't know exactly what the code is for renounce, but I think the damage is similar to turn for clerics. Turn usually does either damage equal to 1/2 the mobs hp or will completely destroy it...so if the seraphic defender only has 60 hp....you will only do 30 dmg to it, or completely destroy it. I think the damage/success rate is also based on your renounce skill level in relation to the level of the mob you are renouncing...and I know that renounce is a pain in the @$$ to raise.

Huk has it right. Naturally, since you have more HP than the mob, it'll do more damage to you if it does land a renounce. It is 1/2 of your current HP.

The chance to renounce is based on piety, along with your skill compared to the mob that you are going against.

What I have noticed is that mobs much lower than you may still renounce you. Sort of like how Plu can still be circled by level 8 mobs. There is always going to be a 1% chance of this happening, but it might be good to bring up if you see it happening more than once in a blue moon.

What is your renounce skill at?

It happens to me too on Wicked and Azina with lower mobs. I have 300+ skill and high piety with Azina and Wicked for renounce. This is a bug that has occured before.
