Dwarves and elves may now be paladins.

Dark elves may no longer be deathknights.

After discussion with some players, the idea came up of having paladin and deathknight associated with specific gods, just as clerics are. Right now all paladins follow Enoch and deathknights follow Aramon.

These two classes, while still always being opposite each other, are going to follow dieties as well. Dwarven paladins will follow Gradius and dark-elven deathknights will follow Arachnus. Half-elves will most likely be able to choose between Enoch and Linothan. As for special abilities for being associated with a particular god; that is yet to be determined.

Until this is coded, paladins and deathknights will remain the same. Pledging - for example, paladins to Crusaders Order - will be removed, just as it has been for clerics. The clans will remain, as bards and fighters can also pledge to Crusaders Order.

Thoughts / suggestions?

Paladins and deathknights are now set up to use dieties. Also, when you type "info", your diety will be displayed (this goes for clerics as well as palys/dks).

These changes are currently cosmetic. All paladins will still level in Sigil, even though you wouldn't normally expect Linothan or Gradius to be tolerated at the Crusader's Order. This will be changed eventually as new areas are added.

Because of this, deathknight has been readded as a choice for dark-elves. All dark-elves will follow Arachnus instead of Aramon, but again for the time being will use the same training location.

All current paladins / deathknights have been removed from clans (no exp taken away) and set to their corresponding diety. Please post if this causes any problems.

I think this is a cool idea, but will the new races have different abilities? I think hands and harm should be incorporated, but the rest should be similiar to the gods. Ares paladin would get zerk instead of turn, dwarven would get smother, etc.

Paladins / dks will see some minor differences in their abilities based on their god, but it's not going to be anywhere near as drastic as clerics have. I'm busy working on other things at the moment, however.

I think the change to paladins should be minimal.

Elves and dark-elves will be granted riposte with a timer a little longer than a fighters.

Dwarves: should be granted bash on a timer much like maul for werewolves.

Those are some good ideas.

Another thing to consider: some dieties, like Gradius, cannot turn undead. Should Gradius paladins lose this ability? If so, will bash make up for it?

I'm working on other projects now, so I haven't given much thought to changing paladins at the moment.

Maybe have the riptose timer be the same as fighters, but move them to part light armor res. like a ranger or full light armor res. just some thoughts

I don't think a timered bash would be equivalent to turn. Turn is definitely one of a paladins most powerful skills.

Another idea that could be done is something like a dwarven battle cry which affects trolls.
