Just a few ideas i thought i'd put in writing, before i forget them.
Mostly concerning the changes made to the magic system when that comes along..
For some classes that will lose their mp, some alternative ways of healing:

Druid/Ranger: Using different kinds of herbs, either before battle of after battle..should be easy to prepare some of the basic ones...which can act as either a vig or a heal over time that you apply before battle. Fighting in a forest, or grassy area could fill you with nature's essence, making you tick faster or something.

Assassins/Rogues: Some sort of adrenaline type heal, during battle maybe even from a dodge. i.e You dodge the attack, giving yourself enough time to tend to a wound. Or simply the adrenaline of battle makes you feel tougher...could be similar to a fighter/berserker class having rage heal them.

Berserker/Fighter: As said before either rage building up healing your wounds or just making you feel tougher. Or the ability to conserve your energy. So you dont use as much energy in your next swing, therefore allowing you to recuperate some of your damage. Maybe a power swing that knocks the opponent down while you heal yourself.

Deathknight (if they lose mp): Of course, the obviously drinking of your opponents blood. The more damage you do, the more blood you store to drink and heal yourself with. Was going to say that for vampires..but not sure how that would work considering they'd become a condition.

Monk: Maybe a new skill which acts as a feint, where you knockback or stun the monster momentarily. During that time you would receive a heal over time as if meditating etc. Could similarily turn the monsters attack against itself.

Thief: Dodge helping you heal, during a dodge you basically steal a healing item off of the opponent, like a potion or a bandage. Or something like a feint/trick skill which distracts the monster while you eat something for health.

Bard: Song broadcasts! lol jk: Johnny the bard plays the skin flute over the broadcast channel; You feel energized, and excited.

One last thing: Please add an item...called bottle of faeries. When you use it, faeries surround you for like 5 minutes, healing you over time, like every 30 seconds....lol.
Or...some form of wax/fake protection. You apply wax to your body. Igmoo hits you for 35, the wax absorbs 5 damage. The wax cracks, and eventually falls off your body.

Maybe bring back the hire skill, and certain classes can hire a healer type to work for them. Depending on how much you spend you'll either get an effective healer or someone who doesnt heal very well and has spell fizzles.
The mob you hire can take hate and be killed though.

Also!!!! Add a new type of trap, which effectively takes a copy of your character, and has it attack you...using your skills/spells etc. You have to fight it to get past it, or if u flee it follows, if u hazy it eventually disappears.

Anyways these are just ramblings from a really tired/bored person....going to sleep now, people should start to play again! =)

Yah, my current hire command seems to be broken. I go to the mob, type in Hire Hucklebuc $100, and the only response i get is Hucklebuc says, "no!"

Maybe the cost of circle-slave hirelings has gone up recently, but it should be brought back down to $100 =)

I definitely like some of these ideas. Healing over time potions or regained health from certain abilities seem like an interesting game mechanic that could be considered.

And I don't know what that means, but it doesn't like something PG-rated in my mind.

Oh, and I don't think I ever tried hiring a mob on RoH when you still could ... but I think this would be a wonderful idea. I'd played on another MUD for a short period of time with hirelings; they sold them in stores, though, and each of them had their respective level. They were never fantastic but still offered extra aid such as vigs and some attacks if the mobs you were killing were around their level. I think this was good for newbies and classes that were bad at healing themselves.
