The benefits of armor?

Man, I didn't know how important armor was in this current version. I was toying around with Rollo earlier to see if he'd poison me, so I normally go AFK while he beats me. Just this time I figured I'd try it without armor....

Fencer's Shoppe

You are in the shoppe of the infamous Rollo the Fencer.
Rollo deals with all kinds of scum on the docks. He has
many connections. His shoppe is one of the most well known
fencing operations in all of Highport. Apparently, he pays
the Guard quite well to leave him alone. It is rumored
that he has several city council members in his pocket too.
You can deal with Rollo, but it is at your own risk.
Obvious exits: out.
You see Rollo the Fencer.
Rollo the Fencer is attacking you.

(167 H 38 M 482,742X): yawn
You yawn loudly.
(167 H 38 M 482,742X): Rollo the Fencer missed you.
(167 H 38 M 482,742X): c v rol
Vigor spell cast on Rollo the Fencer.
l rol
(167 H 36 M 482,742X): You see Rollo the Fencer.
You see a sniviling little man with an evil gleam in his eyes.
He is half-orcish. He is medium.
He has quite a few wounds.
He looks very angry at you.
He is attacking you.
You could kill him with a needle.
(167 H 36 M 482,742X): eq
You laugh at Rollo the Fencer as you easily dodge his attack.
(167 H 36 M 482,742X): Wielded: a hardwood staff (+2)
(167 H 36 M 482,742X): Rollo the Fencer hit you for 41 damage.
(126 H 36 M 482,742X): Rollo the Fencer hit you for 42 damage.
c m
(84 H 36 M 482,742X): Mend-wounds spell cast.

Now I feel so happy I get hit 30+ When I'm using Eve, rofl. :p

Btw, unless you have natural armor (wolf, monk, lich) or some kind of armor skill (mage, druid) - you will get hit for the mob's full damage without armor on. You know that little percentage next to your armor? Well, that's armor absorption against a mob your level. Max absorption is 75%, even if you out-level him by 30 levels.

So if he hits you normally for 10 damage with 75% armor absorption on, let's do a little math....he hits 40 damage with 0% armor!

For the same reason it's bad to remove all when you flee. You're about to die, and then you ready yourself to get hit for immense damage. Who gets naked when they're about to die? Oh wait....

I've always wondered why people remove all before fleeing.

Even back when I played Castlenet Mordor on mIRC I would just rem weapon and flee. Now that we have fancy shmancy stuff like zMUD it's even easier to just set up an alias, trigger and macro to remove you weapon only...it boggles my mind.

And Bane made "disarm" typed by itself remove all wielded weapons! Now there's no excuse.
