I think the berserk needs to be adjusted because it's simply not worth it to hit 1.25 and not be able to flee with such low hp/weak vigs. I died so many times because of that. Wimpy won't kick in.
For the Berserker, it's okay because they have lots of hp. Clerics without flee is dangerous.

I played one a long time ago. I have to say I enjoyed it, but berserk on a caster is more of a drawback, since I can't vig, stun, or flee. Committing to fights is hard for a cleric who doesn't have the staying power.
But last I remember is you resist stuns, try it in PvP or something and see if the time is reduced.
I see it as the hardest cleric to play. But none of the clerics are really bad classes by any means.

Here are my observations of the Ares/Assasin
Ares side
1) Bash is awesome ability. Good for high damage and high hp mobs
2) Healing. Delta has already discussed this before in the healing topic. Vigs are near the bottom of all cleric healing but scalable and still better than other classes. The Alignment effects from Reddish - Bluish reduces vigs even further. But at least the range is still larger than Gradius. It's nice have pty bonus but doesn't play that big of a role in the vigs
3) Berserk can only be used when you are neutral. Timer is similar to Berserk but it's only 1.25 of weapon damage not attack damage. You can't flee while berserk which is a real bummer if you low hp and weak vigs. The damage output is barely significant enough to risk not fleeing. If a mob stuns or circles you while berserk, you could easily die.
4) Stating cycle is the same of all clerics. Ares is a bit harder to stat because you get more pty,int but hardly any CON or STR. If you stat closer to a casting Ares, you would be missing STR and CON parts. I think for Ares, I recommend STR, CON, PTY and just enough to get to 8int. I don't know the advantages of having high PTY though other than vigging. But then again you have a load of MP. What to do?
5) Ares can wear heavy armor but multiclass can't.
Assassin side
1) Backstab is awesome ability. Low hp mobs you can kill fast.
2) Dodging is nice
Multiclass
1) Ares Attack Power + Assassin Dodge and Backstab is high damage combination
2) Ares vigs although not as good as other clerics is by far better than a regular assassin
3) Bash option is nice to have
4) Alignment maintanence (I wouldn't call it a problem) just somethng to maintain.
5) Berserk = small advantage but compare to backstab why bother
6) Hide/Sneak better than an Ares Cleric
7) Dodge better than an Ares Cleric
8) 5hp/3mp = weak + stat cycles are difficult for the races available. I think its hard to come up with a higher hp combo without sacrificing other stats.
9) Speller timer is at 5 secs. That kinda sucks when I have to heal with lower hp.
10) Compared to Aramon Cleric or Mage Assassin. Probably Aarmon Cleric would be most powerful combination. Compared to Mage Assassin, Chrome has to chime in on that.
11) I find that its a fun combination to play just because I like to play classes that people don't usually consider "POWERFUL".
12) Its always a rough ride from 1-16. Kamira was very rough but now at level 25, killing BR and other high damage output mobs/perms. Who needs to stun hem if they can't even high you. If they did, your mends can keep up with the damage. I am hoping that Ares/Assassin would have a similar surprise when I get higher level. Except this time, it's a better offense than Kamira's awesome defense.
Suggestions
It would be cool option for Ares/Pray/Bash stun to be related. Or change the Bash to Battlecry which would be related to the Ares Cleric's Pray. This could offset the lower hp/weaker healing.
Dunno if Ares could have similar healing to Gradius/Kamira. That would certainly make the Ares just a bit more popular with other players.
I suppose if Jacko has complaints of MP going away. Ares would be an option for him. You would have a fighters attack power + MP to heal and cast. What more can you ask for?

Leave me out of this. I'm just worried about some play issues with it, but othwerwise i'm sure it will work out.
I had one of the earlier Ares Clerics back in the day. It really seemed to me they mixed two things that just didn't mix well. I'm sure with the loss of MP Ares will stand out more as a battle cleric. Now, what class will take the place of the fighter/mage is yet to be seen. Especially with Vampires leaving, who I would say made the best caster/fighters.

They will wind up just becoming not a class or race, but an AFFLICTION that people can catch, and turn INTO vampires.
The details of this have not been worked out completely, but the long and short of it will be that primarily,
vampires will become much more powerful at night, but will be effected extremely negatively in sunlight/during the day.
As I said, details are still being worked out, and it's a long ways away.
Something similar will happen with werewolves as well, but instead of night/day effecting them, the phases of the moon will. This was one of the minor reasons Dom put in the calendar/year system.
If anybody has any suggestions, please post a new topic and we can all talk about ideas.

Ares/Assasin can't use because of class restrictions
1) skeleton bones
2) two handed silver swords
There are some others but I forget. Somehow T/M can use the skeleton bone but not Ares Assassin.
Is that a bug?
