Bane, you can do whatever it takes all you want; but you and I both know that no matter how easy it is made (consider how much easier this mud is now compared to back when we played Isengard before we did all this), that there always will be people who want it easier, no matter what you do to accomodate them and "dumb down" the game to "gain players". It has to be left alone at some point, and it has to be "this is just the way it is". I am not meaning to diss Sulik by saying this, or anybody else who complains about how "it's too hard" to do whatever for whatever reason - I'm only pointing out that players will always want it easier, and that has to be considered in the decision-making process in order to avoid sliding into a slippery slope.
You can give things, but you can NEVER take them away.
i.e. Shit! Too much gold to level..lower it. (6 months go by).."uh oh now there's too much gold in the game! We'd better make it a little less prevalent....OH SHIT DAMN DMS YOU SUCK DMS NERF TOOK OUR GOLD OMFG OMG OMG OMG down syndrome. Not to mention...this mud is NOWHHERE near streamlined and cleaned up enough to where we can properly accomodate 50+ players (or more). We dont need to be actively changing things just with the idea of adding new people right now - just going forward and fixing what we have and implementing the changes we're working on, like the combat system revamp, etc...
In my opinion this MUD might as well be considered in BETA right now, and no more. "There's nothing wrong with shooting, so long as the right people get shot." --Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry in Magnum Force

I'm not necessarily looking to make it easier, I'm looking to make more return on investment. Hanzo didn't level to 30 for the longest time because he saw no reason to, no real bonus over level 29. A lot of people don't level past 22 for the same reason.
I'm looking to add more skills/small benefits for leveling. They don't need to be super powerful, just something to show they've gained something.

I agree with what Bane said. I have probably 30 million gold split between all my characters and the majority of them are 0 tnl. I don't bother leveling because there isnt enough incentive/reason for me to train them. I think with the upcoming changes, you will find out who the second richest player is in-game.
As far as lowering gold for leveling, the current setup for it is just fine as is. I think people just need to find a balance between getting xp and getting old. People are too focused on the xp grind that they ignore the gold until they see 0 xp needed. A good example is seagull and mug. I can easily get over 100k xp with tasslehoff but walk out of there with 20k gold.
People just need to learn that getting gold is as important as getting xp when your leveling. If you ignore the gold, you will spend as much time farming it as you were getting the xp.

How about removing the 50% tnl cap on levels? That way people can fully get all of their skills/saves raised at each level, and also if they don't have enough gold, can still gain experience in the mean time.
Now that you can't double-level in rooms (must leave room), it shouldn't matter...right?
