Poison Strike:
Deals level based direct damage + % chance to poison target. Poison strength could be stat/lvl based as well.
Web:
Effectively the same as the hold-person spell in terms of strength compared to stun.
Another thought is just to give them a damage over time ability that is stackable with regular poison and disease. Also, they should be given a passive ability that allows them to climb/scale any area that would require levitate. An additional passive abilities could include being immune to poison or not being aggro'd by any monster with the arachnid mtype set. Personally I don't want to see them have any pet(s).

I can assure everyone, as I am the one taking over the development of Arachnus clerics now, that they will NOT be getting pets...at least not in the traditional sense

Hehe another idea i was thinking was that they would have to go out and find a spider to make their pet, so their ability would be to "recruit" a spider as a pet.
Even neater i think would be to allow them to recruit multiple spiders, with a max combined level that would be equivalent to what a normal clerics pet lvl would be.

Good to hear, enough "pet" classes as is...
Not sure what you already have in mind with the "non-traditional" pet but I was thinking something like this:
swarm:
Syntax
swarm <target>
Summons a swarm of spiders to attack the target for x amount of time or until target dies.
Example:
swarm oce
You summon a swarm of spiders to attack Ocelot.
Some black widows just arrived.
The black widows hit Ocelot for 15 damage.
The black widows poisoned Ocelot!
The black widows killed Ocelot!
### Sadly, Ocelot was killed by Clericx's spiders.
The black widows scatter from wence they came.
